Available solely on F-Series pickups with Ford’s 4.2-inch LCD instrument cluster screen—another class exclusive for the Blue Oval—the Truck App can lead drivers through all the steps necessary for a proper trailer connection in a simple, informative manner. The App’s checklist includes the following prompts:
- Ball coupler connected and locked?
- Tongue jack raised?
- Mirrors adjusted?
- Electrical wiring connected?
- Lights functioning correctly (running lights, left/right turn and brake lights)?
- Trailer Brake Controller gain setting adjusted?
- Wheel chocks removed?
- Safety chains connected?
In addition, the system can be configured to organize, track and store key information about accumulated mileage and other measures for up to 10 different trailers, making it ideal for drivers who are pulling multiple load-carriers.
